MFL: The Colour Purple. How to Demonstrate Great Learning Dialogues.

Since writing about the English Department using purple pens for D.I.R.T. the MFL department here at Hodgson was very keen to share their existing practice of outstanding feedback in books and how they create reflective learning dialogues with our students. Demonstrating progression and feedback no longer has to be a such an arduous task as Susan Emmett, lead teacher of MFL explains:

"The Modern Foreign Languages Department have been using Purple Pens for pupil feedback since last June.  We've experimented with a variety of uses and each teacher has developed a classroom routine which allows students to reflect on their progress, edit their work and create a clear learning dialogue using teacher feedback as a springboard.
Now familiar using Purple Pens as a feedback tool, students are encouraged to use target language in peer and self assessment. This learning apparatus has been embedded from Year 7 and has allowed  students to take more responsibility for their own learning."
