In English, we are big fans of 'hooks' that we use as pre-starters to engage students as soon as they enter the classroom...whilst we are greeting them at the door and collecting phones in! I've shared some suggestions of different types of hooks that we've tried and tested- all can be used in a variety of ways, from being completed in silence to generating a class discussion led by the teacher.
