Going paperless

By R. Burnett, teacher of Geography

In the Geography department, we are trying to cut down on the amount of paper that we use. So we have set ourselves challenges to minimise the amount of resources we photocopy.

At first we were unsure, as we do a lot of differentiation through the use of worksheets and booklets. However this has helped us to think about alternative ways of differentiating for students. We now have now incorporated choices of activities (Red, Amber, Green) into most of our lessons.

We have also found going paperless useful, as it really makes us think about whether the resources we are providing are instrumental to the lesson. We still do use some resources for Year 11 and other lessons where it is deemed valuable.

This has also helped contribute to the Geography Quality mark and the department has become more environmentally friendly, which is important and a huge part of the core values.
