On 29th March 2017 we were extremely honoured to welcome Arek Hersh MBE to Hodgson Academy.
Arek was born in Poland in 1929 and lived through the Nazi occupation of Europe. He also survived internment at Auschwitz Concentration Camp. Arek went on to write about his experiences in his book 'A Detail of History'.
He visited us to give testimony to the whole of Year 9 about his experiences. Additionally, we privileged to receive a representative from the Holocaust Educational Trust who looked at pre-war Jewish life with year 8 and 9.
This event was very moving and enlightening for all students who heard history come alive.
A truly worthwhile event for Hodgson Academy.
