Cross Curricular Thinking

Last week my year 8 class was greatly diminished due to a trip.
We took the opportunity to do some in depth group work focusing on Nazi Propaganda.

Students were in pairs and given a propaganda poster each which they then analysed. I focused the students on higher level thinking skills so that they went beyond looking at the contents, but also what they could infer and at whom the propaganda was aimed.

We identified features we would expect to see in propaganda and how effective we thought the images may be.

This proved very effective for teasing out in depth analysis and encouraging students to use English skills in cross-curricular contexts.
