Structure Strips

by Kirsty Connal,
Teacher of Geography

New to the GCSE Geography specification is 9 mark questions, where students are marked not only on their knowledge but their ability to structure a clear argument with introductions and conclusions.

Therefore, we have been using these "structure strips" to help students to think about the layout and structure of their 9 mark questions. Once they have finished their answer, students are asked to colour code their answer against the structure strip so that they can clearly identity where they have given positives to the argument, negatives and a conclusion.

This helps students who previously would have thought they had finished, realise they have not included all sections!
