Introducing numeracy in lessons can look very difficult in many subjects. Here is an idea from Mr Day, Lead Teacher of History.
When giving students a number for example: "Turn to page 90." Give the instruction as a calculation. Eg. " Turn to page 8x8 plus 6x4 +2". The first student to work it out and turn to the correct page wins a plus point.
Simple and effective, isn't it?
