By K. Parr, Lead Teacher of Geography
The Geography Department has been looking at ways to motivate students in Year 10 who need a boost to work hard over the next year. The department has tried different methods, in class and outside of the classroom. This week has seen the students going to Blackpool Sixth Form to experience Geography at A-Level. The aim was to show the students life after Hodgson- what could they be doing at Sixth Form and what do they have to do to get there?
On arrival, students were given a free Starbucks to help them settle in and were then taken up to the Geography department, where we took part in tasks to do with Alfred Wegner and continental drift. The students already had a great base knowledge of this topic and were able to test each others knowledge and learn about continental shelves.
The trip was so successful we hope to take more students over in the future. Well done to the Year 10s for making Hodgson once again proud with their immaculate behaviour!
