KS4 to KS5 transition

by Allyson Holmes,
Teacher of Art and Textiles

Year 9 Textiles students are being introduced to their first piece of AQA GCSE coursework today.
As an art teacher I feel my role is to excite and inspire my students. As part of this we joined the Year 10 Transition trip to Blackpool Sixth yesterday where we spent the day in the Visual Arts department.

The students were able to browse the A-Level students' sketch books and presentations, some of which are very relevant to our Unit 1 theme of 'Birds and Feathers'.

We were introduced to some creative drawing methods which we will be experimenting with in lessons today.

Students were also introduced to Photoshop which was very inspiring for the Year 10 students who may be considering a graphics or photography course at the college.

All in all a very well organised, inspiring and enjoyable day for us all.
A big thank you to the Visual Arts staff and students who were brilliant! An especial thank you goes to my wonderful students who embraced all the creativity around them.
