Revision through presentation

With the new 9-1 courses, students have a lot more theory to remember and then be able to apply them to real-life business examples. So with Business Studies ,I split the students into groups of four (mixed ability) and then gave them a topic area to focus on and create a revision summary for the rest of the class. They were not allowed to use PC’s so that the work could be displayed across the room and used by all at any point.

The students were given the general heading of ‘The Marketing Mix’ and then went and created their revision guides on this topic to share with the class. I really enjoyed this task as it allowed students to work with their peers and for them to be supported by each other if one of them was struggling. It also gave them more confidence in presenting their findings as they all had to make a contribution to the oral presentation to the class.

At the end of the lesson, students were given 15 minutes to ask questions and make any additional notes they wanted on the topic.

They have a test next week and I hope to see that their understanding and application skills have improved!
