After feeling inspired at the High Achiever CPD session, the Geography department has sought out old AS level papers that contain question types from the new GCSE specification. In order to ensure that the high ability students are understanding what is being looked for in
terms of structure and content, they are going to be given a number of questions (which are annotated by the teacher) to attempt over half term. These questions all fit in with our new content and are written using the new command words and structure that the students needs to become familiarised with.
As we have a AS examiner in the department, we are then going to hold a session after half term to go through the expected level of structure and content with the students in a lunchtime session.
Our aim is to encourage those students to gain full marks in the 9 mark questions.
We have also invited the Sixth Form Geography teacher into school to deliver more challenge for our top students.
