This year, Geography are trialling new ideas to combine revision and homework ideas.
One way to do this is the 'question a day' mat. Each student gets an A3 copy of the grid above (dependant on the month) and simply have to complete a question a day on topics that have just been covered or may have been covered the previous year. This gets the students thinking and revising at home, without them realising. This task is also very useful as it does not need to be marked by the teacher but the students can mark each other's either as you go along, or in one go at the end. As you can see the last box is simply a question - 'Which boxes did you find the hardest?' This can then lead onto the next task of creating something that helps strengthen the knowledge on those topics.
The aim of this is not to ask complex questions which the students need to answer in length and detail- but to help them strengthen knowledge and identify areas of weakness.
