We ask students to
read around various subjects to gain a greater background knowledge and
understanding. However are they questioning what they read?
Often we read
articles about miracle treatments or shocking scientific engineering, are they true
or fake news?
Well, worry no more! The “News Bug” is here to help.
Students are asked to
read an article and ask questions about it. If the answer is no, then they pull
a leg off of the bug. At the end of the six questions if the “news Bug” falls
over, the article is unreliable as it “does not have a leg to stand on!”
It is a fun way to
evaluate the reliability of an article, especially for those who aren’t keen on
reading.
