Putting Yoga Learning into Practice

by Aimee King,
Lead Teacher of R.E.

In Year 11 I have been practising Astanga Yoga after they have learnt about the 4 Paths of Yoga in Hinduism.

As part of the RE GCSE, the students learn about the 4 paths of yoga: Karma, Jnana, Astanga and Bhakti, and what they mean to a Hindu and the impact they have on their daily lives.

In true experiential learning, students are invited to practise 10 minutes of yoga to end the lesson and practise meditation. I tell them this is a great method of reducing stress (which could come in handy as their GCSE season has just started!)
