Within the Maths Department lots of us
use loop cards frequently in lessons. Simplistically, loops cards are cards
which contain questions and answers, the answer to a card is recorded on a
different card, and the question on that card has an answer again on a
different card, eventually all cards fit together to create a loop.
For example;
Benefits of using loop cards in
lessons;
- Engaging for students
- (Students don’t always notice that they are working through 16 questions… different to a worksheet/ list of questions)
- Work doesn’t need to be written in books, it’s a nice opportunity to use whiteboards
- If you decide to laminate the resources they will last years
- Existing resources do exist (certainly for Maths)
- Students can work backwards from the answer
- Can be completed individually, in pairs or in teams – Competitive element!
- Great for checking skills – testing knowledge
- Can be used across all subjects
