Mark smarter, not harder

We all know that assessment feedback is important for students to understand how they can improve their work and move onto the higher level answers. However, when marking a set of 30 odd assessments I have often found that I am repeating myself with my WWW and NSA (Next Step Advice) comments.

For the first set of KS3 and KS4 assessments we have trialled the use of marking grids. We are able to highlight to the students in simple, student friendly language, what they have done well whilst pointing them in the right direction with specific question NSA. We can also add individual comments. Students can quickly see which areas and questions they have done well in and what they have missed.
