Synthesizing Learning with Literacy Focus

by Mr T. Hibbert
Teacher of Science

This term I have started to use the attached document to help students with their learning journey in science.

This is designed to help students synthesize their learning in 6 different ways. They start by reflecting on teacher feedback (NSA - Next Steps Advice.)

Students will:
look through their work,
identify a keyword and start to define it
use it correctly in a sentence
create a question where the NSA keyword is the answer
draw a picture to illustrate the keyword
connect the word to others from previous topics
self assess whether they have Got it, Almost or Nearly.

This can be used by highlighting Keywords whilst marking (Pink to Think) if the teacher feels inclined too.

So far this has been used as a starter, a challenge activity and a thinking hard tool.
